1Scholarships

Italy's public universities charge some of the lowest tuition in Western Europe, and several accept Pakistani students without IELTS via a Medium-of-Instruction (MOI) letter or an in-house English test. No CIMEA statement is required where the university accepts a Declaration of Value (DOV) instead.

Intakes

Main intake: Fall (September/October). After receiving an admission letter, pre-enrollment on the UniversItaly portal is mandatory, followed by the study-visa application at the Italian Embassy.

Visa notes

Non-EU students need a study visa (type D) before travelling. After the admission letter: (1) pre-enroll on UniversItaly, (2) apply for the visa at the Italian Embassy in Islamabad with the DOV, financial proof and accommodation evidence.

Cost of living

Public-university tuition is income-based and often €156–€2,500/year; many students pay under €1,000. Budget roughly €700–€1,000/month in Milan/Rome, less in smaller cities. Regional scholarships (e.g. ERSU in Sicily) can cover tuition plus a stipend.

English requirements

Several universities waive IELTS for Pakistani applicants: MOI letters are officially accepted at Macerata, Sapienza, Palermo and Tuscia; Bergamo assesses English in the admission interview; Macerata also runs a free in-house English test.
